Complete the LIST of FURNITURE ITEMS to be moved here:
Quick user guide:

Completing the list is easier than it looks.

Just go down each column (like bedroom, kitchen etc) one column at a time and enter the number of items to be moved as you go.

Cartons, containers and similar small things are all entered in the top two rows.

Keep adding cartons and containers there as you go, or leave them till last if you find it easier.

You can CLICK an item's description to add one (+1) and click under the 'quantity' field to subtract one (-1).

If you have a lot of a 'thing' (eg 34 boxes) you can enter the quantity directly into the 'quantity' fields.

If you can't find an item on the list please enter it as something similar in size. For larger items, add a second one. For example, for a 1.8 metre wide wall-unit, enter 2 wall units or for an oversize stripy bag add two stripy bags.

Click the 'info' symbol or 'hover' over an item for more info. (You can click it again to close the panel. In fact any place you can click on to 'open' a panel, you can also click on to 'close' it again).

Our quote will normally be emailed within a few minutes. Once you have received it you can sign back in and book or make ongoing changes to your list. Subsequent price changes will be displayed in real time.

If you write anything in the comments or access issues fields that price may be subject to review. Reviewed prices will be notified on or before the end of the next business day.

Special Items. Brief description of anything else to be moved (ie: items not entered above).

If you can't find your items or anything similar on the ABOVE list please describe them here:

Optional Cubic metres (Length x Width x Height)
for the Special Items you described in the 'Special Items' box:
More info
Estimated Max Weight of items decribed here:
Kgs
This optional field is only for entering the cubic metres you would like us to set aside for the Special Items you have described separately in the 'Special Items' box. Please do not use it for any items already listed above, like cartons, fridges, lounge suites etc. If you enter the Cubic metres here for the items you describe, you will generally get an instant price based on what you enter, which will be quicker than waiting for us to make an assessment!

To help you in making your estimate, a SQUARE metre of floor space (1 metre by 1 metre) will take up just under 3 CUBIC metres in a truck (as the trucks are approximately 3 metres high).

So to calculate cubic metres for items listed here (and not listed in the standard inventory) eg: shopfittings, boxed furniture etc., multiply the floor space required (in square metres) x 3.

Weight allowance:

For items over 170 kg we charge at the rate of 1 cubic metre per 170 Kg. This is done automatically provided you enter the weight in the 'Kgs' box above.

Why ? Because even a single cubic metre will sometimes weigh a tonne or more. If it does it would only take 3, 4 or 5 cubic metres before the load becomes too heavy for the truck. So we charge at a rate of approx 6 cubic metres for each tonne.

If your goods are in a self storage facility please click here for quick tip.

Self-Storage centers often measure their storage units in 'SQUARE' metres which refers to the FLOOR AREA taken up.

For example a 3 Mtr x 3 Mtr floor area unit may be rented to you as a '9 Square metre' unit.

However 'square metres' are not the same as 'cubic metres', and we need to know the cubic metres taken up.

To get that we need to know how HIGH your goods are stacked as well.

So if your unit is stacked 2 metres high, you need to multiply the 9 square meters of floor area by the 2 metre height. That means multiply the 9 square metres of floor area x 2 metres high: = 18 .... 18 cubic metres and that's what we need to know.

Another example: If you are storing in a 2 metre x 4 metre storage unit (8 square metres) and the goods are stacked 2.5 metres high you should base our quote on 2 metres (length) x 4 metres (width) x 2.5 metres High. In other words 2L x 4W x 2.5H = 20 cubic metres.

If you are not sure how full your unit is, it may be better to get a quote based exactly on what items you've got in the storage unit instead of based on an estimate of how high it is stacked and how full it is.

and/or If you know what truck you would like to book just select here:
Weight allowances: If one cubic metre weighs a tonne, it will take only 3, 4 or 5 cubic metres before the load may become too heavy for the truck. Yet the truck may still be nearly empty. For this reason we charge each tonne as if it takes up approx 6 cubic metres.Click to hide
Please Click here first for important notes on calculating space requirements and the limits on this service..
This section is mainly intended to be used if you are sure of how much space you need. It is more suited for booking short distance jobs at an hourly rate rather than at a fixed price.

For a fixed price quote it may be better to submit a full list. Otherwise you may book too much space (and then pay too much) or book too little space and then risk that your items won't fit into the space allocated.

Please note that the space you will need to book will be more than the physical volume of your goods, because not all space can be filled.

Interstate trucks are usually at least 2700mm high. So you need to book just under 3 cubic metres of space for every square metre of the truck's floor area that you want to take up.

More space booked means more room to spread the load and less stacking of goods but generally costs more.

For HEAVY loads please allow 6 cubic metres per tonne.

Please note that trucks normally come with two men and a fridge trolley as workers. They will not be equipped to move heavy items like pianos, billiard tables or similar unless we know about it in advance. So please let us know or use the Item List option to obtain a fixed price that includes loading listed pianos, billiard tables and so on. (Surcharges normally apply)

METRO MOVES and other local short distance moves: If you know roughly what truck size you need for your short distance Metro Move you can more comfortably book by selecting a truck size instead of completng a list.

For Metro Moves the hourly rate for large and small trucks is not all that different and we are MUCH cheaper than the big name brands anyway, so just pick a truck a little bit larger than you need (if it can fit in your driveway), or a smaller one if it can't. We can sometimes send two little trucks (same price as a one large one) - and that might be the best option as they can often get closer to the door and so save loading and unloading time even if they need to do two trips.
